Sage Birth Materni-tea

Calling all expectant couples in the Grand Rapids area. You are invited to join us for an evening of fun and lots of good information. Sage Birth Co-Op will be holding a Materni-Tea, a time to meet our childbirth professionals: birth doulas, childbirth educators, and postpartum doulas, as well as learn of your options in the Grand Rapids Area.
You will hear all about birth doulas, what the difference is between hospital childbirth classes and independent childbirth education, and how postpartum doulas can make the transition to parenthood easier.
We will have teas, snacks, and goodie bags to hand out, as well as a short lesson. Come for food, fun, and fellowship with other women at your stage it life!

PeeSpeak: teaching elimination communication

PeeSpeak’s 3 easy steps teach you to communicate with your child from birth abotut going potty. With this program you will learn to recognize when your baby needs to eliminate as well as the positions and ways to take him potty. Also, you will learn communication techniques that help you communicate this basic need to with child.

Infant Massage- Techinques and Benefits

Numerous studies have found that massage plays a significant role in promoting the proper growth and healthy development of infants. Physically, massage stimulates the nerves, increases blood flow and strengthens the immune system. It can relieve a host of childhood complaints from colic to constipation. A daily rubdown on a baby’s belly, for example, helps work out gas and regulates digestion. Massaging the chest may ease congestion. Gently stroking an infant’s face can improve her ability to suck. Most of all, massage is good for parent-child bonding. Through touch, babies learn the comfort and security of loving and of being loved.

Newborn Care & Support with Mom's Bloom

Having a baby can be a wonderful and blessed time in a new Mother or Fathers life, but it can also be exhausting and overwhelming. Much of the 'practical' parenting advise is not passed down as readily as it once was and with families more geographically dispersed than ever, familial support is not always readily available.
In the workshop Mom's Bloom staff and volunteers will provide you with the information about parenting that you don't always get from books and is often not talked about. This will be a open and supportive environment where you can ask the questions you want to ask and get real answers. You will also learn about how Mom's Bloom can provide a specially trained volunteer to help you out during those first few months of parenting.

Healthy Homes: Say goodbye to Toxins!

All children should have the opportunity to grow up in a healthy home that is free from environmental hazards. Join us as we explore ways to keep your home & family healthier. We will address concerns with Radon, Carbon monoxide, and Lead hazards and how to go about testing for these toxins and removing them. We will also discuss green cleaning and how it can help with prevention of Asthma problems.
